Conceptual Creative Lead

We are looking for a Creative Lead to take ownership of one of our key accounts – Pinterest. This is a conceptual role responsible for an entire work stream, collaboratively directing a team of designers and copywriters (currently 12 people) in the creation of advertising Pins for global brands. You will be a visual and strategic brand guardian to a big selection of brands at any one time, ensuring delivery of the highest quality creative that fulfils the brand’s brief but also upholds all of the platform and ad placement best practices. 

The ideal candidate will have brilliant creative ideas and a strong eye for design, knowledge of video editing techniques, excellent communication skills and an unflappable nature. These essential qualities will allow you to quickly assess creative (multiple assets per project x multiple projects), feedback succinctly in writing or in person and drive design changes quickly, effectively and strategically. 

This is a pivotal role in our studio that requires a team leader and team player who can happily juggle multiple brands and projects simultaneously, and isn’t phased by a fast-paced delivery schedule. You will have social expertise, work with a global cultural lens and be invested in using insight and trends to guide your work. This is a client facing role with lots of kick off calls, so we are looking for someone confident, friendly, articulate and happy to be the creative expert in the room.

Key responsibilities:

  • Digest briefs, request additional information and assets, ensure the task is always clear and that the studio has been supplied with everything needed to do the best work. 
  • Attend client kick off calls and ensure OLS is represented in a professional, friendly manner and all questions pertaining to the brief or project have been asked and answered.
  • Ensure that concepts developed are strategic, on brand, adhere to platform best practices and most of all – are exciting! 
  • Ensure that strategies have been communicated in detail to the designer team, schedule internal catch ups and ensure internal deadlines have been set in order to hit external delivery deadlines with ease. 
  • Provide always on support and guidance, as well as timely feedback, as required in order to maintain workflow and avoid bottlenecks. Anticipate and stay in front of any potential issues, ensuring any problems/conflicts are minimised and dealt with swiftly.
  • Be the visual compass for all photographic stock choices, ensuring art selection is always on brand and in line with all defined guidelines.
  • Help drive skill development and career progression for designers, ensuring they are supported to create their best work and relaying insightful review related feedback to the Creative Director and ECD when requested.
  • Inspire the team through a passionate and positive attitude. Apply the highest levels of attention to detail and constantly challenge the creative to drive the bar higher. 
  • Work with the Senior Leadership Team to routinely identify ways to optimise internal systems, and implement better processes.
  • Lead by example in all project related and company endeavours, championing company principles and values.

 

Key skills & experience:

  • Experience of leading and inspiring a multi talented team. 
  • Solid experience in driving creative work from concept to copy, through to design and completion. 
  • Able to juggle multiple projects on any one day alongside providing team support and working with the studio manager to ensure work is moving through the studio. 
  • Ability to remain focussed and calm under pressure and with tight deadlines. 
  • Able to work collaboratively as well as provide a clear answer and direction when time is of the essence. 
  • Able to prioritise when busy and systematically work through workload. 
  • Great interpersonal and communications skills. 
  • High attention to detail. 

*This role would happily suit a conceptual creative or a designer who has stepped away from the tools in order to pursue their career in creative direction. There is no hands-on designing required in this role.
